A new cell phone bill was automatically debited from my bank account, and someone secretly borrowed money using my time deposit as collateral. The ID used in the crime contained some inaccurate information, but it wasn't detected in the online transaction system. After modifying some of the information on the ID, they attempted to verify their identity using the Nonghyup Mutual Finance mobile banking app, "NH Kok Bank." First, they changed the address on the ID to a non-existent address. They also arbitrarily changed the issuing agency to a different local government. By taking a photo with a mobile phone camera, the ID verification process completed without any issues. Even though the information was handwritten and clearly different from a regular ID, the mobile banking security system failed to detect it. Typically, a photo of the ID taken for remote account opening is sent to the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute (KFTC) via a bank or other financial institution. Then, if there are no issues, the original information is compared with the original information from the ID issuing agency, such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
