Coniston, Tarn Hows & Walna Scar, an amazing emtb ride through stunning scenery in the Southern LDNP

An enjoyable, more challenging route for the novice off-road mountain biker. The video pays particular attention to the terrain to ensure potential riders can judge if it is suitable for their level of riding ability before riding the route. This is a lovely route for those riders who don't want anything too technical but fancy a little bit of a challenge! This is a scenic, circular, emtb ride in the English Lake District National Park starting from High Cross car park on the northern edge of Grizedale Forest. A gravel and in places rocky bridleway takes you up to Tarn Hows and then down & across the A593 to ride a gravel cycle path to Coniston and up to the Coniston Copper Mine (disused). Another rocky bridleway is followed by a short but steep tarmac climb up to the car park on Walna Scar road. With views to the right onto Coniston Old Man you then ride a gravel section along Walna Scar road before turning left onto a bridleway, grass at first and then rocky, riding down passed a water filled quarry, into Torver. Easy cycling on a disused railway line/cycle path takes you alongside Coniston Lake before another steep gravel bridleway returns you back to the car park at High Cross. This ride is 17.2 miles long & roughly 95% off-road. I've put together this ride and several others as I've found a distinct lack of detailed information on rideable off-road routes for those of us with mountain e-bikes (hardtail or full suspension) who want to enjoy a non-technical, but fun, ride. The number of senior e-bike riders appears to be rapidly increasing and I'm hoping these routes will be useful to those visiting Cumbria and the Lake District and maybe even the local residents, like ourselves. A basic map showing the route is available at the end of the video or you can view the route on Komoot at Cumbrian e-bike trails using the following link: https://www.komoot.com/tour/157325807... 00:00 Intro 00:45 Setting off from High Cross 02:00 Rockier section 03:11 Tarn Hows 04:32 Rocky bridleway down to A593 08:00 Up to the Copper Mines 10:43 Another rocky bridleway 13:00 And onto Walna Scar road 15:14 Down on grass to quarry 17:23 The quarry 18:22 Rocky again 22:19 Easy peasy cycle path 23:46 Riding Coniston Lake shoreline 27:00 Last climb on gravel 28:53 Map #LakeDistrict #ebike #explore #emtb #ride #rider #cycling #ebikeride #LakeDistrictNationalPark #Cube #TarnHows #Coniston #GrizedaleForest #GoProhero10 #ebiketrail #TheLakes #easyoffroadroute #cycleroute #cyclinglife #cumbria #LDNP #WalnaScar
