Mussorgsky (arr. Ravel): Baba Yaga & The Great Gate of Kiev (Alexandre Bloch/BSO)
Conductor Alexandre Bloch and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform Ravel's masterful orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at and Exhibition, a musical journey through a fictitious gallery of the works of Viktor Hartmann. Set as a series of miniatures, some intimate, others grotesque, each movement imaginatively captures the essence of a character, mood or scene. This excerpt combines the last two movements: The Hut on Hen's Legs (also known as Baba Yaga) & The Bogatyr Gates (or "The Great Gate of Kiev").
