Overlanding Ladakh | Episode 11 In Episode 11 of the Ladakh Expedition ‘26, we leave behind the remote village of Hanle and begin one of the most anticipated drives of the entire expedition — a journey to Umling La Pass (19,300 ft), the world’s highest motorable road. The road climbs through some of the most isolated landscapes in Ladakh, crossing vast high-altitude plains before finally reaching the summit. Standing at 19,300 ft, surrounded by endless Himalayan mountains, is a moment that feels both surreal and unforgettable. Before leaving Hanle, we also pass by the famous Astronomical Observatory — home to one of the world’s highest optical telescopes. After Umling La, the journey continues towards Puga Valley, a fascinating geothermal region known for its hot springs, steam vents and sulphur-rich terrain.
