What has changed for women since the 19th century, the era of "La Regenta," Madame Bovary, and Effi Briest? Did "La Regenta" witness the first instance of slut-shaming? In this first episode of "One More Hour Among Books," a spin-off of "One Book, One Hour," Antonio Martínez Asensio discusses feminism, women's freedom, desire, female guilt, the yearning for liberty, and marital dissatisfaction through the stories of five literary women—five adulteresses who met tragic ends for daring to rebel. He does so with journalist and writer Nerea Pérez de las Heras, revisiting their stories and seeing much of their relevance to the present. Furthermore, we also explore, alongside journalist Laura Martínez, how these themes are reflected in social media, television series, and current films.
