Steel Duty Review 2025 has initiated!
The investigation goes far beyond just tariffs and will consider Removing certain steel rebates (R780m imported through these rebates in 2024) Creating rebates on imports used to produce goods under the four chapters Tariff rate quotas, minimum import reference pricing and changing from a percentage to a fixed rate of duty Import controls (permits before you can import) Import surveillance to better address Customs fraud Compulsory standards for certain steel products. Reducing price of scrap metal And of course it is also looking at duty increases on certain products. This is the most consequential review in ITAC’s history. Active participation is essential to avoid potentially existential risks.
