Síndrome de Sensibilidad Química Múltiple, la enfermedad del S.XXI

This week, Es Posible tackles a disease as little known as it is disconcerting due to its effects: Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome (MCS). Those who suffer from it experience alterations in the respiratory and digestive systems, as well as chronic fatigue and symptoms of fibromyalgia. It is their bodies' response to even the slightest contact with chemical agents; elements as prevalent in the environment as CO2, chlorine, mercury, fertilizers, and the components of perfumes, deodorants, detergents, and disinfectants... Es Posible tells the story of three women who live confined to their homes to avoid contact with these elements and thus ensure a minimum quality of life. If they go out, they must wear a mask. What response does the public health system offer to this condition? None, at the moment. Why does it arise? Is it evidence that human activity is creating an increasingly unhealthy environment? And, above all: why does it affect almost exclusively women? Es Posible will try to answer these and other questions.
