Here on the channel we've already had a video about SEO for blogs, which are nothing more than optimizations you can apply to your blog to increase your chances of ranking well in search results. In that video, I categorized the optimizations into four categories, the most used of which, and the one you'll apply in your day-to-day work, is PAGE optimization, also known as on-PAGE SEO. On-page optimizations are usually done around a keyword for which you want to rank well in searches. Therefore, if you want your post to appear as a result in searches for "how to create a blog on WordPress," you need to optimize your post for that keyword. And how are these optimizations done? Inserting the keyword in strategic places, such as: Post name Post URL Post description Headings Image names and descriptions Within the text, along with similar keywords In addition, there are other page optimizations that can be done, such as creating long-form content and inserting links – both internal and external. And how do you do these optimizations in WordPress? It's very simple. Open the post editor for the post you want to optimize, choose the keyword you want to work with (learn how to do this in this video) and start inserting it in the post name and meta description. As you can see on my screen, I use the YOAST SEO plugin to help me remember all the optimizations that need to be done. This plugin adds a panel to the editor where you can enter your keyword and it checks if your post is following all the recommended techniques. It's easy to remember the title and description, but some other optimizations can be easily forgotten. Following the Yoast checklist, we also changed the text headings, added an initial paragraph containing the keyword, added images with optimized descriptions, links, and even changed some paragraphs to naturally insert the keyword within the text. As you can see, each time we apply an optimization, Yoast changes the color of the dots from red to green.
