[Jang Dong-hyuk / Leader of the People Power Party: I have become even more convinced that there is no other way but a special prosecutor and a re-election.] [Now is the very time for our party to fight properly.] Representative Jang effectively characterized the pressure to resign following the local elections as "acts detrimental to the party," dismissing his future as a matter to be decided solely by the party members. He also emphasized that restoring the party's discipline, which has been scattered by internal strife, is the first step toward rebuilding conservatism. The pro-Dong-hoon faction immediately pushed back, calling the defeated leader shameless and demanding that he at least be asked for a vote of confidence. With Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik, one of the "two top leaders," also emphasizing daily the swift end to the debate over his position, the atmosphere within the party that does not recognize Representative Jang's leadership is already clearly evident.
