Fun Facts: Route 66 is the legendary 2,448-mile highway stretching from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA . Often called "The Mother Road," it was established in 1926 to connect the Midwest to the Pacific Coast, transforming American travel The route spans 8 states. Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. It spans in 3 time zones. There is about 85% that you can still drive. I suggest running on I-40, it's bigger and less bumpy. Despite opening in 1926, the entire stretch wasn't fully paved until 1938.
