Sánchez provoca la risa del Congreso al asegurar que "jamás conoció ni hubiera tolerado" corrupción
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez used his address to the Congress to defend the government's actions in the various legal cases affecting the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and reiterate his intention to serve out his full term. In a speech marked by accusations exchanged with the opposition, the Prime Minister asserted that he was "fully aware" of the impact that legal revelations have on Spanish political life. Sánchez denounced the existence of a climate fueled by "rumors, leaks, and false information" which, in his view, seeks to convey the idea that corruption is widespread in Spain. "And that is not true," he stated, before accusing the opposition of contributing to creating a "great cloud" over national politics. In this context, he delivered one of the most forceful messages of his speech: "The question is not whether we will continue; it is how we will not continue." During his appearance, the president addressed the so-called Koldo case and the situation of former minister José Luis Ábalos, stating that he respects judicial decisions and calling for prudence in the ongoing proceedings. He also maintained that the PSOE "has not been financed irregularly" and emphasized that his party acts against any corrupt conduct. Sánchez also addressed the investigations involving his wife and brother, insisting that the accusations are part of a strategy based on false information and political smear campaigns. He also expressed his support for former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and defended the legality of the Plus Ultra bailout. The president concluded by reaffirming the anti-corruption measures implemented by the government and rejecting any possibility of calling early elections. "The question is not whether we will continue, but how we will not continue," he reiterated before the House, making it clear that he is maintaining his roadmap for the remainder of his term. #PedroSánchez #PSOE #Congress More information with EL MUNDO: https://www.elmundo.es/espana/2026/06...
