Shropshire: Is This England's Most Underrated County?
Is Shropshire England's most underrated county? I spent several days exploring this hidden gem to find out, and I was absolutely blown away by what I discovered. I started in Bridgnorth, where I rode England's oldest and steepest funicular railway up to explore the fascinating leaning castle ruins. Then I made my way to Ludlow, a town packed with historic buildings, a medieval market, and an impressive castle. The Iron Bridge was absolutely amazing to see in person, standing on the world's first cast iron bridge felt like touching history. My final stop was in Shrewsbury, where I explored a genuinely creepy Victorian prison, found Charles Darwin's statue and the school he attended, explored a lovely park, and more. But the real highlight? My incredible Art Deco train car Airbnb surrounded by sheep and lambs, which was pure countryside bliss! After exploring castles, prisons, historic markets, and gorgeous countryside, I'm convinced Shropshire deserves way more recognition. What do you think - is this England's most underrated county? And is there anything I need to see when I visit again in the future?
