Deutschland deine Schweine: Wie artgerechte Haltung aussieht
98 percent of all pigs in Germany live in conventional stables. Former Michelin-starred chef Franz Keller wants to show how things can be done differently at the Falkenhof farm. "Meat must become more expensive!" This is one of his main demands. Animal welfare is being trampled on in Germany in favor of the meat industry. To produce cheap meat, tails are cut, piglets are castrated without anesthesia, and sows are kept in crates. Keller is convinced, "When it comes to animals, mass production is a very, very difficult problem." For this reason, and because, as a chef, he relies on good products, he has been raising his own chickens, cattle, and pigs at the Falkenhof farm for several years. He is fighting for more awareness of food, more regionality, and public education. For him, it is clear that real change must come through politics.
