Simply Present ただ在る | A Relaxing Reflection Session | Jazz, Soft Funk, Blues #chilllofi
For years, I lived as though life was always somewhere ahead of me. I told myself that I would relax after I reached the next goal. I would be happy after solving the next problem. I would finally feel at peace once everything was organized, understood, and under control. But life never seemed to work that way. Whenever one challenge disappeared, another one arrived. Whenever I reached a destination I had been chasing, a new destination appeared on the horizon. My mind was always occupied with what came next. Even during good moments, I was already thinking about the future. I didn't realize how much of my life I was missing. One evening, after a particularly exhausting week, I sat alone near a window overlooking the city. The sky was fading from gold to deep blue. Cars moved below like small streams of light. People hurried home, carrying bags, conversations, and worries I would never know. Normally, I would have been scrolling through my phone or planning the next day. Instead, I sat still. At first, it felt uncomfortable. My mind immediately searched for something to do. It offered unfinished tasks, old regrets, and imagined future problems. It wanted to keep moving. But I stayed where I was. Gradually, the noise inside my head became quieter. I noticed things I had ignored for years. The way the evening air felt against the glass. The distant sound of laughter from somewhere below. The changing colors of the sky. The simple fact that I was alive and witnessing another ordinary day come to an end. Nothing extraordinary happened. Yet something changed. I realized that so much of my stress came from trying to live in moments that did not exist. I spent my days arguing with the past and negotiating with the future while barely noticing the present. The present, however, was the only place life was actually happening. That realization didn't solve all my problems. It didn't remove uncertainty from my future or erase mistakes from my past. What it did was simpler. It allowed me to breathe. Over time, I began paying more attention to ordinary moments. Morning sunlight falling across the floor. The comfort of familiar music. A quiet walk without a destination. Conversations that didn't need to accomplish anything. These moments had always been there. I was the one who had been absent. The older I get, the more I understand that life is not made of milestones alone. Most of it consists of small, unnoticed moments stitched together day after day. And often, those moments carry more meaning than the achievements we spend years pursuing. I still make plans. I still have goals. I still worry sometimes. But now, when I catch myself rushing ahead, I remind myself to return. To this breath. To this room. To this moment. Because peace was never waiting for me in the future. It was here all along, quietly asking me to be present enough to notice it. And for the first time in a very long while, I am. Simply present. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Relax a bit with this 2 hour journey through, retro, jazz, funk music inspired by the golden era of 1980s vibes.
