To align two paths temporally, we can apply a delay to the signal that arrives first at the measurement microphone, but this does not guarantee that the two signals are in phase. In fact, when using second-order filters, there is a 180° phase difference between the paths and, therefore, cancellation in the crossover zone. Therefore, once we have adjusted the two paths in time, we must adjust them in phase. If the phase difference between the paths is 180°, we must reverse the polarity of one of the paths.
