The Contender (with explanation)
A recording done at one of Jimmy MacCarthy's concerts at his home in Jenkinstown, Kilkenny. (At his request and with his permission) The Contender is a song about Jack Doyle who was a soldier (Irish Guards), Heavy weight Boxer, actor and drinker. The latter being his undoing.
