Chora Church was built during the Byzantine Empire, likely dating back to the 4th century. Over time, it became known for its beautiful mosaics and frescoes, which were added in the 14th century. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful surviving examples of later Byzantine art. Even though this is now an active mosque, most of the artwork remains visible and it is absolutely stunning. This is a must see in Istanbul!! Kariye Mosque is open to visitors (everyday except for Friday) from 9:00 - 18:00. It closes about 15 minutes prior to each prayer time throughout the day and you can check the prayer times here: https://namazvakitleri.diyanet.gov.tr...
