Margaret Baugh is the oldest known former tuberculosis patient to stay in the Waverly Hills Sanitorium. She is 91 years of age. What was supposed to be a two month visit turned into a one and a half year stay. These are some of her memories... The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a former tuberculosis hospital located in Louisville, Kentucky. The 500 room TB hospital was opened in 1926. Since the introduction of streptomycin in 1943, the number of tuberculosis cases gradually lowered, until there was no longer need for such a large hospital. Waverly Hills was closed in 1961.
