The clinic of excess is neither a clinical type nor a nosographic category. Rather, it is a common denominator of what has been called "current symptoms," in which excess is always present in a radical and limitless way, which D. Cosenza calls "pathologies of excess." Domenico Cosenza Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Milan (1992); Psychologist from Sapienza University of Rome (1999); Bachelor's degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from the University of Turin (2003); Master's degree in Psychoanalysis from the University of Paris VIII (2006); PhD in Psychoanalysis from the University of Paris 8 (2011). Member of the AME (Analyst of the School of Psychoanalysis) of the SLP (Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis) and the WAP (World Association of Psychoanalysis). He was an Analyst at the School (AE, 2017-2020). He has served as president of the SLP and the European Federation of Psychoanalysis (EFP), where he edited its international French-language psychoanalytic journal, Mental. He is the director of the Milan branch of the Freudian Institute for Clinic, Therapy, and Science. He is an associate professor of developmental psychopathology at the University of Pavia. An expert on eating disorders, he is the founder and president, since March 2012, of the Milan branch—Associazione Kliné—of the Italian Federation of Eating Disorders (FIDA), and currently serves as FIDA's vice president. Scientific Director (from November 2002 to June 2013) and one of the founders of the therapeutic community “La Vela,” established in April 1997 in Moncrivello (VC) for the institutional treatment of anorexia and bulimia, following the psychoanalytic approach of the ABA [Association for the Study and Research of Anorexia, Bulimia, Eating Disorders and Obesity] in the treatment of eating disorders. He was Scientific Director of the ABA from 2002 to 2006. He collaborates in prevention and training work on eating disorders, working with parents, teachers, and staff at institutions for minors (kindergartens, primary, middle, and high schools). He has served as an institutional supervisor for several clinical institutions specializing in eating disorders, substance abuse, and other psychopathologies. He has given specialized courses in the clinical treatment of anorexia and bulimia for psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychologists, and nutritionists.
