Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If someone were to give all the wealth of their house for love, they would surely despise it. Gospel (John 20:1, 11-18) On the first day after the Sabbath, early in the morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw the stone rolled away from the tomb. She stood before the tomb, weeping. And as she wept, she leaned over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lain—one at the head, the other at the feet. And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She answered them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." After she had said this, she turned and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” She, thinking it was the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if you have moved Him, tell me where you have put Him, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” And she, turning, said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabbuni,” which means, “My Teacher!” Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.
