What is Flux? + an Introduction to Gauss Law (Electromagnetism – Physics)
In order to fully grasp electromagnetism, one basic notion that is absolutely essential to understand is the concept of Flux (For example electric flux and magnetic flux). This is what this video is about! The first section provides an approach to the concept of flux within classical field theory. Then, the second section uses the idea of electric flux to present a major law in electrostatics, Gauss Law. Finally, at the end of the video and as a direct application of Gauss law, the teacher derives the well known Coulomb’s law that quantifies the force between two electric charges. #flux #electromagnetism #physics - - - - - - - - Structure of the video: 00:00 Introduction 00:48 Content of the Video 01:59 What is flux ? 05:57 How to calculate flux 08:35 Gauss Law 11:00 Gauss Law: why is the flux independent of the Gaussian Surface ? 12:44 Gauss Law: why is the flux only depends on the enclosed charge ? 13:32 Deriving Coulomb’s law from Gauss Law - - - - - - - - In order to fully grasp the content of this video, the viewer needs to be familiar with the following concepts already presented in a PME video. _ What is a charge : • What is Electric Charge?
