Roberto Sánchez en la mira: Vilcatoma y Combina lanzan fuertes cuestionamientos

Violence, insecurity, and political tension once again dominated the day's agenda. Amid criticism of the Executive branch for the crime—specifically, the arson attack in La Victoria that left several dead—Jenny Vilcatoma and César Combina spoke out about the incident and also analyzed the Constitutional Court's ruling that overturned the pretrial detention of Vladimir Cerrón. Vilcatoma expressed her solidarity with the family that lost ten members in La Victoria, including five children, and harshly criticized the lack of response from the authorities. The former congresswoman complained that, up to that point, those responsible for the attack had not been apprehended, despite the family having previously reported extortion threats. "We are a completely incapable Executive branch," she stated. The former Attorney General also criticized President José María Balcázar, whom she accused of being more focused on a potential exit strategy for Pedro Castillo than on addressing the security crisis. According to him, the government's inaction reflects indifference to the victims' suffering and a lack of political gestures during this time of national upheaval. RULING IN FAVOR OF CERRÓN At another point, César Combina referred to Vladimir Cerrón and asserted that the leader of Perú Libre is still acting from what he called a "euphoria" of power. The former congressman maintained that Cerrón wielded influence during the administrations of Pedro Castillo and Dina Boluarte, and affirmed that the Constitutional Court's ruling represents his last vestige of political power. "His last drop of political power has saved him from pretrial detention," he stated. Vilcatoma, for her part, maintained that Cerrón was obligated to comply with current court orders and could not justify his hiding under the argument of political persecution. The former Attorney General also explained that, by evading justice, he would have created a flight risk in the money laundering case. Cerrón's Request to Balcázar Questioned Both Vilcatoma and Combina also questioned Vladimir Cerrón's request to President Balcázar to expedite the release of Pedro Castillo and the safe passage for Betssy Chávez. Combina believes Cerrón is trying to fill the political void left by Roberto Sánchez and reposition himself as a leader of the radical left. Finally, Combina maintained that Cerrón is attempting to rebuild his political base in the face of a lack of clear leadership on the left. According to Combina, the leader of Perú Libre is trying to capitalize on Roberto Sánchez's weakness, the lukewarm stance of other leaders, and the lack of representation within the left-wing sector.
