Maria Sofia Corona da THE VOICE KIDS - RCM Records
Hello everyone! My name is Maria Sofia Corona, I'm 14 years old and was born on August 13, 2011, in Cagliari. My greatest passion is music. I attend the Liceo Musicale, where I study Operatic Singing and Piano. Before that, I attended the San Sperate middle school, where I studied flute, but my heart beats above all for singing. In 2021, I participated in my first television festival in Romania, Tinere Speranțe, where I won singing both pop and traditional music. That same year, I participated in several Mihai Trăistariu festivals. The following year, I reached the winners' podium in Bucharest with the Oldies Song festival. Also in 2022, I participated in the L'Usignolo d'Oro singing competition in Modena. From there, I continued to perform at various events, including Romania's Got Talent, where the thrill of singing Bocelli's "La Preghiera" earned me the nickname "Golden Voice" from the Romanian press. Later, I participated in the Young Voice Star Switzerland international competition in Switzerland, where I was awarded the Angel's Voice prize. In 2023, I won the Vocea Mării competition and participated as a guest in the Gustavo A. Rol Award in San Secondo di Pinerolo. In 2024, I participated in Sanremo Doc and had the honor of participating in Sanremo Junior, where I placed second and received the committee's award. Subsequently, I participated in Note in Radio with the unreleased "Io vorrei le mie favole (a lieto fine), written by Nadia Borgognoni and Giovanni Tornambene, winning the award for best performance in my category. Also in 2024, I received the Diploma of Excellence for the Italian Diaspora in Lucerne, Switzerland, as a cultural ambassador, and finally participated in The Voice Kids. The Voice had been my dream for several years. I participated in the preliminary round with the song "Your Love (Once Upon a Time in the West)" by the great maestro Ennio Per. Arisa turned first, followed by Loredana Bertè, then Clementino. Finally, Gigi D'Alessio turned around, giving me the Super Pass to the Finals, and consequently, I became part of his team, thus blocking the other coaches. It was a magical experience; I didn't think I'd make it to the finals, that the coaches would turn away. A dream come true: in fact, as fate would have it, if I had had to decide which team to join, I would have chosen Gigi D'Alessio. From the first notes, Antonella Clerici said she felt sad, because "this girl captures your heart." Even my parents, who were in the room, were moved and in tears. Gigi D'Alessio then asked me, "What planet are you from?" I replied, "Sardinia." He replied, "Sardinia is a beautiful planet." Clementino described my voice as angelic. Gigi then said that he and Sardinia have a great connection, given that last year, Diana Puddu, a Sardinian woman from Quartu Sant'Elena, won The Voice Senior. D'Alessio also told me that I have the color of the sea in my eyes, but above all, a heart that reaches everyone. Even though I wasn't competing in the semifinals, because I automatically qualified for the final, I was still invited to perform the song "Memory" by Barbra Streisand, since everyone was so impressed. In the final, which consisted of twelve contestants, I was even more excited, and I became even closer with the finalists. Next came the grand final, which consisted of four contestants. The song they performed in the final was "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, the soundtrack to the film Titanic. #music #thevoicekids Gigi D'Alessio said of me: "Sofia is my diamond in the ocean; I've seen angels give her standing ovations." During my musical journey, I've also had the honor of duetting with Alexia Vay, another contestant on Romania's Got Talent in Turin, for the Gustavo A. Rol Award. I also performed duets with my cousin Ciobanu Nectarie as part of a church tour in Romania, as guests. I know the road to becoming an established singer is long and full of sacrifices, but I'm ready to give it my all. In the future, I'd like to continue studying music, enter other competitions, write my own songs, perhaps become a competitor at Sanremo, and tour the world on prestigious stages. If I were to realize my dream of writing my own song, I'd like to write it in a pop style with a touch of opera, telling a story of peace and hope for the entire world—a world without the negative images the media portrays. For a world filled with peace.
