We Found a Giant Private Suite on Indonesia's Train (Argo Semeru)
🚆 Our first ever train ride in Indonesia — and we somehow ended up in a giant private suite. We travelled on the Argo Semeru from Jakarta to Surabaya, riding in the train’s fancy compartment suites: a MASSIVE private room with a big seat, a wall of windows, movies on demand, and more buttons than we knew what to do with. So naturally… we pushed them all. 😅 Along the way? Endless rice fields, temples, and motorbikes zipping past. Plus, meals delivered right to our door — because of course we said yes to train snacks. This video includes: • A full tour of the Argo Semeru Compartment Suite • Real-time reactions to our giant seat/throne situation • Button testing (recline, footrest, table, call buttons… we tried everything) 🎛 • Our included onboard meal and snacks 🍱 • Big windows, beautiful Java views, and a lot of wide-eyed grins This is the second episode of our Indonesia Four Ways travel series — where we explore the country by plane, train, sleeper bus, and road trip/boat. After champagne in the sky, now we’re rolling through Java on rails. (Also, fun fact I just learned about the word Gauge: it’s not pronounced “gawge” 😂 So please enjoy my confident wrongness in this video) If you love quirky train rides, unusual seats, or watching two awkward travellers get overly excited about seat controls… welcome aboard. ✨ NEXT UP: An overnight Indonesian sleeper bus with pod beds. I’m Chloé — a Kiwi travel creator exploring the world one awkward train moment at a time. My husband Ludvig (dry humour, Swedish passport) joins when he can. Together, we seek out the quirkiest journeys, comfiest cabins, and always squeeze in a touch of luxury when we can (okay, that part’s mostly my idea 😅). We’re all about making travel fun, relatable, and a little bit weird — with a side of scenic magic.💛 Some links are affiliate, which means we might earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you). It helps keep the adventures going — and pays for coffee when the train café runs out of it. And honestly? Every time you use one, it triggers a little happy dance on my end. 🕺 So thank you!
