It’s impossible to figure out what it’s about, but it hypnotises me with the dreamlike imagery of its poetry. Lots of people have covered it, but my two favourites are The Byrds and this one by Melanie, which goes in a completely different direction, but is just as powerful nonetheless. Therefore, I found it fitting to pair it with some visuals from one of my top ten favourite films, a cult classic which mixes horror, fairy-tale, surrealism and Freudian symbolism to depict the fantastical world inhabited by a young girl on the threshold of adulthood.
