Chris Cornell: "The Music Industry Strip-Mined Seattle"

The mainstream history of the 1990s Seattle music scene is a heavily packaged myth. Soundgarden accidentally invented their signature heavy metal sound simply to annoy local music snobs who demanded post-punk. From there, the irony only escalated. Audiences took their most satirical, mocking songs entirely seriously, and the media fabricated a unified brotherhood among bands that barely even knew each other. Drawing directly from Chris Cornell's 1994 interviews, this documentary explores the gritty reality of his isolated youth, the absurdity of early internet fame, and how corporate America bulldozed a tight-knit local community just to sell a fashion statement. #Soundgarden #ChrisCornell #GrungeHistory #90sRock #SeattleMusic
