Are Derailleurs Dead? First Ride on the Gobao X1P Gearbox Motor

Riders, what is going on! Today we're getting our very first ride on what could be one of the biggest innovations in eMTBs for years... the all-new Gobao X1P Gearbox Motor. With 150Nm of torque, 1,500 watts of peak power and weighing just 3.85kg, Gobao is taking a completely different approach by combining the motor and gearbox into one compact unit. That means no derailleur, no cassette and a riding experience unlike anything we've tested before. The X1P features an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT), which constantly adjusts the gear ratio to keep you at your ideal cadence. It can run in Auto Shift, Full Manual or Cadence Shift modes, with a virtual gear range equivalent to 3–20 gears and up to a 500% gear range. We'll also take a look at the battery options and incredibly fast charging. 500Wh battery charges to 80% in just 24 minutes 750Wh battery charges to 80% in 28 minutes 900Wh battery charges to 80% in only 32 minutes In this video we'll cover the first look at the Gobao X1P, how the E-CVT gearbox works, the integration and overall appearance, first ride impressions, Auto Shift versus Manual Shift, a sound test, riding above the 25km/h limiter, the pros and cons, and finally my overall verdict. Please note that the bike I rode is a pre-production prototype, so some aspects of the motor and software may change before the final production version is released. The big question is... are derailleur-equipped eMTBs becoming a thing of the past? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Would you ride a gearbox eMTB? As always Riders, thank you so much for watching. If you enjoyed the video, don't forget to like, subscribe and hit the notification bell so you don't miss our future eMTB reviews and comparisons.
