Trap cards are divided into three separate categories: Normal, Continuous and Counter, with the first two types having spell speed 2 priority and the latter being what constitutes spell speed 3. While normal and continuous traps can be chained by cards like monster quick-effects or quick-play spells, counter traps can only be chained by other counter traps, often making them the last part of the chain.
