This Master Distiller Made Whisky For More Than 60 Years: Glen Grant Distillery's Dennis Malcolm

Whisky Magazine's first documentary film, A Life In Whisky: The Dennis Malcolm Story, delves into the life of The Glen Grant Distillery's illustrious master distiller, who recently celebrated his 60th year in the Scotch whisky industry. A well-loved and respected Speyside community leader, Dennis Malcolm OBE was born on the site of The Glen Grant Distillery before starting his career there as an apprentice cooper. After working his way up the rungs of the production team to become manager, he oversaw an expansion of the site before going on to have a storied career leading a number of Speyside's most famous single malt distilleries. In 2006, Dennis returned to his 'home' at The Glen Grant to take on the role of master distiller, where he remains to this day. A Life In Whisky tells Dennis's remarkable story in his own words and through the memories of his closest friends and colleagues, painting a vivid portrait of a respected mentor and passionate whisky maker fuelled by irrepressible joie de vivre. The film not only offers unique insight into the life of a cherished Scotch whisky character and his distillery but also the wider social history of the Morayshire town of Rothes, home of The Glen Grant, and the significant changes that have taken place in Speyside during Dennis's lifetime.
