Spaces which are not used in calculation are excluded spaces Tonnage measured using tonnage convention is called International tonnage GROSS TONNAGE GT is the function of the moulded volume of all enclosed spaces of the ship. GT is the measurement of overall size of the shape determined in accordance with the provision of tonnage convention. Gross tonnage is calculated from the formula GT = K1V, where V is the volume of a ship’s enclosed spaces in cubic metres and K1 is a constant calculated by K1 = 0.2 + 0.02 log10 V NET TONNAGE volume of cargo carrying capacity of ship.
