Officer Fired After Deadly Taser Incident Fights To Get His Job Back

In today's video on Judicial Authority, Judge Rachel Krause of the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia is handling an appeal filed by former Atlanta Police Officer Christopher Kimbro. Officer Kimbro was terminated after a traffic stop in August 2023 resulted in the death of Johnny Holloman, who became unresponsive after Kimbro deployed his taser during a struggle. The Atlanta Police Department's internal investigation exonerated Kimbro on his use of force but found a policy violation for failing to get supervisor approval before what the department considered a physical arrest. Kimbro argues it was a detention not an arrest and that the Civil Service Board that upheld his termination abused its discretion and had no evidence to support its decision. The city argues the board had every right to conduct its own review and that the decision was supported by the body camera footage alone.
