I 3D Printed The Ultimate Fixturing Tool
A spur of the moment project, had the idea earlier this week. Not what I had planned but sometimes things just work, and this was one of those projects. Really happy with how it turned out, I think theres some interesting potential here. As a disclaimer, I am working on some sponsored content for Xtool, but this is not that content. This project idea came up during testing of their product but they didnt even know I was making this video, nevermind have a say in it. I am passionate about digital fabrication but especially 3D printing and trying to push the boundaries of what can be done with basic materials and tools. I firmly believe that 3D printing will be the #1 way people start making physical objects in the future. 3D printing is clean, quiet, cheap and rewarding with quick results. Based on that, one of my major interests is exploring 3D printing as a gateway to other more traditional forms of making. My tool project is designed to explore cheap DIY machine tools that are made more accessible via 3D printing. The goal is to make tools that can be made with minimal skills or tooling, allowing a motivated person to move from a cheap printer to try their hand in other areas.
