#BlackDragons#TawnyBalfour#TingaQuein Greetings, friends. The battle near the city of TingaQuein awaits your attention. The city will be captured. Game Information Heroes of Might and Magic IV is a turn-based strategy video game with RPG elements, the fourth installment in the series. Like its predecessor, Heroes of Might and Magic III, it was developed by New World Computing and published by The 3DO Company in the spring of 2002. Despite the resounding success of its predecessor, development was conducted under difficult financial circumstances due to widespread commercial missteps by 3DO management. After the release of the second expansion, the publisher declared bankruptcy. NWC itself was disbanded, and the rights to the series were acquired by the French corporation Ubisoft. HoMM IV retained the successful gameplay mechanics of the previous games, but also introduced important innovations that significantly altered the gameplay. The two-level map from the third game was retained; however, due to the lack of a fully-fledged associated faction, the underground level is used much less frequently and more cautiously in campaigns. One of the innovations was a modified fog-of-war mechanic. If there is no friendly unit or controlled building in already explored areas of the map, enemy movement is hidden. Another innovation is the ability for units to move without a hero, just as a hero can move without an army. These troops can engage in combat independently and block paths like neutral monsters, but cannot capture buildings or interact with interactive map objects. However, capturing cities and any other buildings requires at least one hero in the army. Neutral troops can also move independently and attack the player's heroes or troops if they are confident of victory. An option has also been added to disable the "own at least one city" requirement to avoid defeat (if the mapmaker leaves this requirement enabled, the player will have three days left before losing their last city).
