Kung Fu Hustle (2004) Action/Comedy/Thriller | Stephen Chow, Yuen Wah, Danny Chan | Recap & Reviews

The night the police commissioner escorted a young woman out of the precinct was anything but ordinary. Five men, broad‑shouldered and bruised, followed the officer into the station, their steps echoing on the tiled floor. They had come to demand the woman’s release, insisting that the commissioner had overstepped his authority. The commissioner, a man of steel nerves, listened without raising his voice, then turned his back on the intruders and ordered them out. The men left the building unopposed, the heavy doors swinging shut behind them as if nothing had happened. When they stepped onto the street, the world seemed stripped of its usual bustle. The neon signs that usually flickered above the shopfronts were dark, the windows of the nearby cinema were shuttered, and an uneasy silence settled over the empty pavement. The leader of the group, a wiry man named Sing, frowned. Something was wrong. He turned back toward the precinct, intent on confronting the commissioner once more, but the door behind him slammed shut, the metal latch grinding against the frame.
