‘Hinabing Pag-asa,’ dokumentaryo ni Kara David (Part 1 of 2) | I-Witness

Aired (May 4, 2019) | PART 1: Almost two years after the siege in Marawi ended, the city remains in rubbles. For the Maranao people, the war did not just destroy their homes, it also threatened their tradition and culture. Rebuilding their city will take years, but healing their wounds and fighting to preserve their culture might take longer. During the five months of the siege, a group of women who stayed at the evacuation center started weaving again. More than a source of income, weaving provided these women a refuge from the horrors of war. And even after the war ended, they continued to weave with hope of seeing Marawi and their traditions rise from the ruins. #GMAPublicAffairs #GMANetwork GMA Network promotes healthy debate and conversation online.
