by Massimo Rospocher Julius II, born Giuliano della Rovere (Albisola, December 5, 1443 – Rome, February 21, 1513), was the 216th Pope of the Catholic Church, reigning from 1503 until his death. Known as "the Warrior Pope" or "the Terrible Pope," he is one of the most celebrated popes of the Renaissance. He is credited with founding the Vatican Museums. He was the son of Raffaello Della Rovere, nephew of Sixtus IV, and Teodora di Giovanni Manirola. He belonged to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. (source: Wikipedia)
