Achara and Vivian dive into Pixar’s 30th feature film, Hoppers, an action-adventure comedy that marks a bold new direction for the studio. We follow Mabel Tanaka, a 19-year-old animal lover who uses experimental "hopping" technology to transfer her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver. Her mission: infiltrate the animal kingdom to stop the crooked Mayor Jerry from bulldozing a local nature reserve to build a highway. Our hosts react to the high-stakes "animal spy" sequences, the hilariously awkward interactions between Mabel and the real wildlife, and the emotional core of the story involving Mabel’s grandmother. The film is directed by Daniel Chong (We Bare Bears, We Bare Bears: The Movie, Cars 2, Inside Out, Bolt) and written by Jesse Andrews (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Luca, Every Day, The Willoughbys). The voice cast stars Piper Curda (May December, Disney’s Teen Beach 2, I Didn't Do It, Legacies, The Wretched) as Mabel and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Pixar’s Monsters University, DuckTales, We Bare Bears, The Secret Life of Pets) as the optimistic King George. The ensemble features Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Top Gun: Maverick, Baby Driver, Good Omens, The Morning Show) as the villainous Mayor Jerry, along with Hollywood legend Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia!, Only Murders in the Building, Iron Lady, Into the Woods) as the Insect Queen.
