Fantasia for 3 viols by Thomas Lupo arr. for Basses
Thomas Lupo (1571-1627) was an English composer, viola da gamba (viol) player, and principal developer of repertoire for viol consort. Much of Lupo's music for viols is for 2 to 6 viols and dates from his employment in the household of Prince Charles. Lupo wrote several pieces for unusual viol combinations. This fantasia trio is an experimental combination of three bass viols. Thanks to Malachai Komanoff Bandy suggesting this as a potential bass arrangement! The arrangement is at Lupo's written pitch, though I am performing it at A440. Sheet music of this arrangement: https://www.ryanbairdbass.com/arrange...
