Marinha apoia força-tarefa para retomar navegação comercial na Nova Hidrovia do Rio São Francisco.

On the waters of the "Velho Chico" (São Francisco River), the Brazilian Navy joins a task force to resume commercial navigation on one of the most important routes for economic, social, cultural, and environmental development in the country. The exploratory mission departed from Pirapora (MG) on April 2nd, with five vessels (the barge Cidade Pirapora, two barges, the dredger Matrichã, and a tugboat), traveling down the river towards Juazeiro (BA), totaling 1,371 kilometers of the New Waterway. On April 15th, the convoy docked near the Sobradinho Dam, concluding the first stage of the mission. Military personnel from the Brazilian Navy's River Delegation of Pirapora; the River Agency of Bom Jesus da Lapa; the River Captaincy of Juazeiro; and the Command of the 2nd Naval District are accompanying the historic convoy, ensuring the safety of the equipment and the people operating the vessel in this first exploratory mission aimed at resuming navigation on the "Velho Chico".
