Variations on "Adeste Fideles" for Flute and Piano by T.J. Dipple

Variations on “Adeste Fideles” by T.J. Dipple is a setting of the familiar Christmas carol, O Come All Ye Faithful, arranged for flute and piano in the traditional theme and variations style. Popular in Victorian times, composers who wrote theme and variations pieces sought to showcase both the musician's and instrument's capabilities. The Victorian era conveniently coincided with the evolution of the modern flute's mechanism that was being developed into what we know today allowing for flashy displays of whimsical virtuosity. While some believe this style lacks the substance of more serious works, many feel that these timeless theme and variations compositions can be great fun for both the performer and the audience. They still represent a fascinating look into a bygone era. In this recording Jennifer Nelson performs both the flute and piano parts.
