Making a Ka-Bar knife at home
This is my second attempt at knife-making. I tried to come as close as possible to a USMC Ka-Bar, to be given as a gift to my wife's uncle, who's really dear to us and is a retired, desert storm, marine. Please don't take this as a tutorial, this video was made to be shared with my friends at work, and uploading it here was the easiest way to share it with the team. The steel is 1095 high carbon and 15n20 Damascus, bought from Rhinoforge on Etsy. The pommel and handguard are solid brass, and the handle is walnut, yes I am aware that the original has stacked leather, but I wanted to have a grenade-style pattern on the handle. I am also aware that the fuller should have been ground, but I didn't have the right tool (or mostly skill) that could make a decent one, so I etched one on the blade (not really happy with it either), and yes the bevel lines are not very precise DEAL WITH IT.
