The Full Stroke (The Free Stroke): The #1 Most Important Thing To Learn On Drums
Have you ever asked yourself "What should I practice on drums?"...well this is it! This one of my basic drum lessons on the full stroke (the free stroke). This drum rebound exercise is hands down, for drums most important thing to learn and master! That is, of course, my opinion as a drum teacher for over 20 years. This was first brought to my attention by my great friend and mentor Dave Stark then later by drummer Dom Famularo and finally expanded on by the great Frank Bellucci. Three amazing teachers all talk about this being the most important drum stroke. I place this exercise in the "drum accents" category along with things like the Moeller stroke. But this is where you need to start if you play the drums. What do you think? ...Leave me a comment to let me know if you agree or disagree.
