🌊 A Homeric State of Mind 🫍

🌊 A new Yodel Girl song arrived this week: A Homeric State of Mind.🫍 ~It started with a simple observation: Homer, Alaska shares its name with Homer, the ancient bard associated with carrying memory across the centuries between oral and literate culture. ~That led me down a winding road through mythology, media theory, AI, small-town life, berry picking, harbor weather, and the strange question of what survives when technology changes how people think and communicate. ~One lyric keeps making me laugh: ~"Bronze-age singer in a plasma screen." ~Plasma TVs have been obsolete for years. Yet somehow the line stayed. It felt less like a piece of technology and more like a glowing artifact that drifted ashore from another century. ~Which, in a way, is what the song is about. ~Old songs inside new machines. Ancient voices traveling through modern networks. A coastal town at the edge of the continent becoming a crossroads between memory and invention. ~Thank you to everyone who's been following these Yodel Girl experiments. Some of you have been watching the strange little world around Homer slowly grow into its own mythology. ~This one feels like another chapter. 🎶🏔️
