A project born about 30 years ago, never truly abandoned and continually updated: today we're putting the Parker 22R to the test, a butterfly safety razor with a very distinctive character. In this shave, I'm using it on a 5-6-day beard to see how effective, deep, and manageable it is. Butterfly razors are often considered rather sharp and unforgiving, but the Parker 22R seems to follow a slightly different path. Weighing 96 grams, with a brass and Zamak handle with a Gunmetal finish and an overall length of 10.5 cm, it immediately feels solid and comfortable in the hand. The butterfly opening also allows for quick and easy blade insertion and replacement. In the video, I'll show you the complete shave and share my thoughts on comfort, effectiveness, angle of use, and the type of user for whom it might be recommended. Despite its surprisingly gentle behavior, I don't necessarily consider it a suitable safety razor for those new to traditional shaving. However, it could be an interesting choice for those who have already acquired some experience and want to try an effective, sturdy, and less aggressive butterfly razor than other models in the same category.
