😱 NEVER EV Road Trip Without Doing This!

Before taking an EV road trip, there are several things you should do to avoid losing range—or getting stuck when charging doesn’t go as planned. In this real-world Rivian R1T road trip, I take my 2026 Rivian R1T Quad Max on a 500-plus-mile family trip to Branson, Missouri. I’ll show you how I prepare for maximum EV road-trip efficiency by washing the vehicle to reduce aerodynamic drag, checking the tire pressure, charging to 100%, preconditioning the battery, packing the necessary Tesla Supercharger adapter and planning every charging stop before leaving home. Along the way, I share the Rivian’s real-world range, efficiency, charging time and cost. I also demonstrate opportunity charging at Branson Landing, where we recovered approximately 30 miles of range while eating. The biggest problem happened on the drive home. With only 23% battery remaining, Rivian Plug & Charge failed at a Tesla Supercharger. I tried multiple charging stalls and reset the vehicle, but it still wouldn’t charge. What finally worked was opening the Tesla app and manually starting the charging session. Watch before taking your next EV road trip to learn how to prepare, what to bring and what to do when Plug & Charge fails at a Tesla Supercharger. 😱⚡ Have you ever experienced an EV charging failure during a road trip?
