Inside Fort Benghisa | Malta’s Last British Coastal Fort

Fort Benghisa during the first official public open day after years of closure and abandonment. Located near Birżebbuġa, Malta, Fort Benghisa was the last British polygonal coastal fort built on the island. Originally constructed in the early 20th century as part of Malta’s coastal defence system, the fort later served during World War II before eventually being abandoned. This video shows the fort during its 2026 reopening event organized by Heritage Malta, including the gun positions, ramps, underground areas, and original coastal artillery structures. Filmed on location in Malta.
