Kadambankombai is located near Katteri, OOty. To reach this village, one has to walk 6 to 7 kilometers in the deep jungle and it has no road facilities too. The residents face challenges from wildlife such as elephants, bears, Indian gaurs, and tigers. Notably, the village is situated within a tiger reserve forest. The Irulas are one of the prominent tribal communities in Southern India. This review examines the ethnobotanical knowledge they use for medicinal purposes and daily sustenance, specifically focusing on the indigenous community from Tamil Nadu, India. The study reviewed a wide range of available literature, including articles, reports, books, and websites. A total of 60 published records on the ethnobotany and medicinal plants of the Irulas, spanning from 1980 to 2023, were identified, reviewed, and analyzed.
