Allegretto Özlem Çelik, clarinet (principal, Samsun State Opera and Ballet Symphony Orchestra): Istanbul Biennial Concert, San Pacifico, Büyükada, with members of The Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, Bulgarian National Academy of Music Sofia, and Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra / Türkiye Gençlik Filarmoni Orkestrası; James Ross, conductor. - - Donizetti is best known, alongside Rossini and Bellini, as a composer of ‘bel canto’ Italian operas, but he also composed 61 instrumental works, including 19 string quartets and several works for solo woodwind instruments and orchestra. In Turkey, Donizetti’s older brother, Giuseppe, was instrumental to the development of orchestral music after becoming in 1828 the Instructor General of Imperial Ottoman Music at the court of Sultan Mahmud II, and hosting some of the greatest musicians of the age in Istanbul, including virtuoso pianist Franz Liszt. The Clarinet Concertino probably dates from the late 1810s. Rossini ve Bellini gibi Donizetti de çoğunlukla 'bel canto' İtalyan operalarının bestecisi olarak tanınır ancak 19 yaylı dörtlüsü dahil 61 enstrümental eserin yanı sıra tahta nefesli sazlar için çok sayıda solo ve yine pek çok orkestra eseri bestelemiştir. Donizetti'nin ağabeyi Giuseppe, Türkiye'de orkestra müziğinin gelişimine büyük katkıda bulunmuştur. 1828'de Sultan II. Mahmud'un sarayında Mûsikâ-i Hümâyûn'ün şefi olmuş, piyano virtüözü Franz Liszt de dahil olmak üzere döneminin en büyük müzisyenlerinden bazılarını İstanbul'da ağırlamıştır. Klarnet Konçertino muhtemelen 1810'ların sonunda bestelenmiştir.
