ASDA: Liquid Mystique | Red IPA | Siren

Today I’m reviewing Liquid Mystique from Siren Craft Brew, a 5.4% Red IPA. It’s been a long time since I last had a Red IPA, and after England’s win yesterday, a red beer felt like a decent way to celebrate. This one brings a maltier side than your usual pale or hazy IPA, with dark fruit, a little caramel depth, just a touch of citrus, and a piney bitterness on the finish. I didn’t get anything as specific as raisin, but there was definitely a darker fruit note in there, sitting alongside the malt and hops. It’s one of those styles that feels like it’s been pushed into the background a bit, so I was interested to see whether this reminded me why Red IPAs used to be such a good thing.
