Mac Metz Welding Demonstration

Metal artist Mac Metz performs a welding demonstration for Virtual Firefest 2020. Mac Metz is an artist and fabricator working at Starworks. After receiving his BFA from East Carolina University in 2002 he has, among other things, maintained his own sculpture studio practice. As a lead fabricator for Wet Dog Glass he has contributed to the fabrication of glass studio equipment worldwide. His sculpture has been shown internationally and is held in many private collections. Focusing on the core materials of metal, stone, glass and wood, Mac’s sculpture aims to convey scientific, historical, theological and mythological concepts. Firefest is a two-day celebration of art created with fire. Firefest is typically held in April at STARworks in Star, NC. Guest artists in glass, ceramics and metal are invited to hold lectures, perform demonstrations and create sculpture.
